Isle Of Lewis
The Isle of Lewis is the most northerly of the Western Isles and incorporates the Island of Harris. It is approximately 60 miles long and 20 miles wide. It has miles of wonderful white sandy beaches which include Tolsta, Uig, Gress, Europie and the Harris beaches of Luskentyre, and Scarista to name but a few. There is unlimited access to the open moor, providing wonderful walks. The Island is renowned for its bird watching and it is not unusual to spot Golden
Eagles and the recently introduced, even larger, Sea Eagles. It is also a terrific location for photography, and courses are arranged periodically on the Estate. Among the many tourist attractions are the Standing Stones at Callanish which are regarded as second only to Stonehenge in importance. Carloway Broch, an Iron Age defensive structure. Arnol Black House, a traditional Lewis house and the 16th century Church of St Clement in Rodel, Harris.
